One source.Senior General ManagerLocation:Roanoke, VA (On-site, up to 25% travel)Reports to:CEOCompany OverviewWe are a privately held, high-growth manufacturer ofengineered, high-value industrial products(typical system price>$100k) serving data centers, utilities, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure.Role MissionOwn the end-to-end performance of a multi-site manufacturing network. DeliverP&L results,world-class safety and quality, andon-time, on-budgetfulfillment while building aplayer-coachleadership culture and scalable operating system.Key ResponsibilitiesP&L & StrategyOwn P&L for assigned business/sites; deliver revenue growth, margin expansion, and working-capital targets.Translate strategy into an annual operating plan with KPIs for OTD, lead time, cost, quality, and safety .Operations & Manufacturing ExcellenceLead daily management (tiered visual management, Gemba) and continuous improvement (Lean/Kaizen, Six Sigma).Drive throughput, capacity planning, SIOP, and constraint management for engineered-to-order (ETO/MTO) workflows.Quality & CustomerAchieve first-pass yield, DPPM, and warranty targets; embed APQP/PPAP (as applicable) and root-cause CAPA rigor.Partner with Sales/PM to meet customer milestones for complex, high-ticket systems.Engineering & NPIIntegrate Engineering with Operations for DFM/A, value engineering, and rapid NPI/ECN execution.Govern product configuration, standards, and compliance (UL/ISO/NFPA/IEEE as applicable).Supply ChainOversee sourcing strategy, supplier performance, and dual-sourcing for long-lead, critical components.Manage inventory, OTIF from suppliers, logistics, and make/buy (including outsourcing/CM where advantageous).EHS & ComplianceChampion zero-injury culture; ensure OSHA/ISO 14001 compliance and site safety/fire protection readiness.People & CultureBuild a high-performing leadership bench; set goals, coach, and hold teams accountable.Recruit and develop engineering and operations talent ; drive engagement and retention.Cross-Functional LeadershipPartner with Finance on standard cost, variance, and capital planning; with HR on workforce strategy; with IT on MES/ERP maturity.What Success Looks Like (12 Months)OTD ≥ 95% , lead-time reduction 20–30% on target product families.COGS productivity 3–5% , scrap/rework down >25% , positive price–cost hold.Recordable incident rate $100k (e.g., power systems/transformers, power electronics, large HVAC/refrigeration systems, heavy equipment, rail/industrial instrumentation).Multi-site responsibility in companies of 2,000–5,000 employees and ≤10 facilities ; direct P&L ownership ( $100M+ preferred).Proven results in Lean/Six Sigma, SIOP, throughput/capacity, cost transformation, and complex ETO/MTO fulfillment.Deep collaboration with Engineering (DFM/A, VE, ECN control) and Supply Chain (negotiation, dual-sourcing, PPV, supplier quality).Bachelor's in Engineering (ME/EE/IE) strongly preferred; MBA or equivalent business acumen a plus.ERP/MES fluency (e.g., SAP/Oracle/Microsoft), KPI dashboards, and data-driven decision making.Regulatory and standards familiarity: OSHA/ISO 9001/14001, NFPA, UL/IEEE (as applicable to product domain).Nice to HaveBackground in transformers, power electronics, data-center infrastructure, or utility-grade equipment .Experience with outsourced/contract manufacturing and global supply chains.Prior responsibility for EHS/fire protection programs and large-scale capital projects.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary, executive bonus tied to P&L and KPI performance, equity/long-term incentives (where applicable), comprehensive benefits, and relocation assistance.
