Job Description

Summary of Duties

This senior-level role includes all Animal Caretaker I duties plus additional oversight and coordination responsibilities in clinical, office, and animal housing areas.

  • Manage the rest of the Animal Caretaker team
  • Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing designated floor surfaces
  • Spot-cleaning spills, stains, and animal waste as they occur
  • Restocking paper products, soaps, and other consumables in designated areas
  • Emptying trash in designated areas
  • Dusting and wiping horizontal and vertical surfaces (up to 10 ft)
  • Performing routine cleaning and disinfection of animal kennels and runs
  • Removing animals from housing areas prior to cleaning and returning them once dry
  • Supporting the collection and proper handling of regulated medical waste
  • Reporting any facility maintenance needs to the supervisor
  • Training and guiding junior caretakers on proper cleaning and sanitation techniques
  • Performing quality checks to ensure all areas meet facility standards
  • Monitoring and maintaining cleaning supply inventory
  • Coordinating regulated medical waste collection and transport
  • Completing basic logs and shift reports
  • Responding to after-hours or extended cleaning needs as required

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proven experience in veterinary or animal facility cleaning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and train others
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Education, Skills & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 12 months of prior kennel/veterinary facility cleaning experience preferred
  • All certifications and requirements listed for Animal Caretaker I (provided by employer)
  • Must be able to obtain base access and pass background check
