We are seeking a Per-Diem Activity Specialist to supervise and engage a group of school-age children in enriching activities during after-school hours. This includes assisting with homework, leading recreational and educational activities, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. The Activity Specialist will have specialized skills and expertise in one or more or content area to lead and implement an activity such as arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition or organized sports. 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

  • Assist in the development of age-appropriate activities in one or more discipline or content area.
  • Provide direct supervision of youth activities.
  • Assist in maintaining daily attendance records for program participants.
  • Assist in the provision of basic counseling services as needed (peer mediation, self-control, decision making).
  • Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field trips.
  • Assist in ensuring a safe environment for program participants.
  • Actively participate in all professional development sessions, supervision and team meetings.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma required. 
  • Associate degree in child development, recreation or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with youth in schools or community-based setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and behavior management skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred. 
  • Must have open availability to work per-diem hours on week days during the hours of 3PM-7PM
