Position Overview

We are seeking a Grant Writer Intern with proven or developing skills in grant writing and research. This position supports the Grant Manager and plays a key role in identifying and preparing funding opportunities for TH&WC.

This role is as needed, based on available grants, and may be structured as either part-time employment or private contracting depending on negotiation and funding availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, cities, and private donors.
  • Write compelling and strategic grant proposals aligned with the organization's mission and program needs.
  • Locate and adapt grants that may not specifically mention "Transgender" but can benefit TGI programs.
  • Assist in developing detailed and compliant grant budgets.
  • Support the Grant Manager in data gathering, report preparation, and comparative analysis to demonstrate community need.
  • Maintain organized documentation of proposals, deadlines, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to align proposals with organizational priorities and community impact goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in grant writing OR a certification or course completion in grant writing.
  • Demonstrated success or potential in securing diverse funding sources.
  • Strong understanding of Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, Intersex (TGI), and LGBTQ+ issues.
  • Ability to creatively connect broader funding opportunities to TGI community programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Passion for social justice, community empowerment, and equity.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $25.00/hour, on an as-needed basis based on grant assignments.
  • Flexible hours and hybrid or remote work options.

  • Opportunity to intern under the Grant Manager and gain valuable nonprofit and social impact experience.
  • May transition to private contracting upon mutual agreement and project funding.
