This position is responsible for creating, updating and releasing select charge sessions; updating resources within the coding department; assisting with charge corrections; and working with leaders on projects.
Responsibilities(25%)* Books appointments in Misys for all inpatient and outpatient hospital procedures and E/M services, nursing home visits and hospital EKGs. Identifies and reports inconsistencies and potential duplicates in appointments being requested to be booked and verify any missing services not turned in by the providers. Monitors daily, the hospital face sheet process for all of the Electronic Medical (E/M) and Procedural Coders.
(20%)* Verifies demographic, insurance and billing information (admit and discharge dates, place of service, etc.) in the AS/400 and Misys. Updates any necessary information in Misys. Runs the daily hospital census and providers schedules to ensure services are accounted for.
(20%)* Retrieves record requests for the Coding Resource staff and Coding Consultants for all of the MPG provider offices (including Clare, Harrison, Gladwin, Freeland, Farwell, Mt Pleasant and Auburn), any medical center requests for the facility inpatient/outpatient services, Family Practice Center (FPC) and any payer external audit requests.
(20%)* Support Educators, E/M Coders, Procedural Coders and Coding Consultants by assisting with printing of operative notes and pathology reports, scan and bubble codescan forms, assist with Medicare Secondary Payer audit, inserts global periods into Misys etc.
(15%)* Rounds to transport encounter packets between the provider offices and the Coding Resource Department. Rounds Monday to pick up weekend census report.

Other InformationEXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Computer keyboard proficiency.
Knowledgeable of MPG physicians and Electronic Medical Record technology.
Background in Medical terminology is preferred.
Minimum one-year experience working in a physician office is preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
