PURPOSE:

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the AVP of Project Management, the Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, management and reporting of assigned projects ensuring consistency with the credit union strategy, commitments, and goals. This includes, but is not limited to, development and deployment of new products and services, deployment of new technologies, implementation of third-party products and deployment of process improvement/operational efficiency initiatives. This position requires a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Manager who will be a key player in achieving strategic objectives. Will work closely with internal teams and third-party vendors, and will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and delivering solutions for our Credit Union members and internal team members. Must have a strong commitment to our SMART Pro Core Values as well as the Mission, Vision and Purpose Statement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with project sponsor, project lead, and key stakeholders.
  • Create project charter/statement of work in collaboration with the project owner and executive sponsor.
  • Identify stakeholder and third-party vendor needs/deliverables.
  • Develop a detailed project plan, schedule and milestones which identify and sequence activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Determine resources and processes required to complete the project.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors for execution of project.
  • Ensure all project team members clearly understand their role, responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Facilitate and lead a formal project kick-off and all ongoing project meetings.
  • Manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Direct and manage project activities from beginning to end, delegating tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel as needed across the Credit Union.
  • Manage project team including vendors that provide project related services or software functionality.
  • Apply conflict resolution with a collaborative approach and use escalation approach as needed.
  • Continuously analyze project outcomes to ensure proposed project solution aligns with project goals.
  • Ensure an appropriate level of detailed and consistent communication is made to all stakeholders and appropriate team members.
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills.
  • Deliver effective communication throughout the project lifecycle to team members, stakeholders, and third parties in a timely and clear manner.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse business stakeholders.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors.
  • Monitor and track progress to ensure successful completion.
  • Ensure all project information is appropriately documented and archived.
  • Report and escalate risks/issues as needed.
  • Communicate project status and issues to all stakeholders regularly.
  • Liaise with project sponsor and other project team to maintain project schedule and outcomes.
  • Ensure all project requirements are met.
  • Oversee project delivery while managing scope, budget, timeline and the required level of quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the delivery of assigned strategic initiatives, and/or "approved" Enterprise projects (multiple concurrent projects).
  • Oversee all project related communication including status reports, meeting agenda/notes and testing results.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving staff-related process issues.

  • Identify and resolve all challenges interfering with project progress, evaluate risks and recommend contingency plans.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the initiation and planning phase to determine the success or financial impacts of the project.
  • Conduct Lessons Learned Session and Project Closeout Process with supporting documentation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Does not directly supervise any credit union staff but is expected to lead project team members including subject matter experts and other resources assigned to the project team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree preferred (Project Management, Business, Technology or related field), or equivalent work experience.

Thorough understanding of financial operations, business processes, financial products and services and applicable policies and standards preferred. Understanding of government regulations and legal requirements involving credit union and/or banking depository and loan programs.

Advanced understanding of complex data processing, PC, network, and technology capabilities. Working knowledge of project management software required. Understanding of agile methodologies, including familiarity with Scrum framework preferred.

Previous Symitar Episys experience preferred. Prior experience in programming and / or financial services is a plus.
