Who We Are:
Sadie Veterinary Urgent Care is a women-owned, independently operated veterinary clinic in the Montavilla neighborhood of SE Portland. In operation since the fall of 2022, we currently have 6 associate veterinarians. We're now looking to grow our team with the addition of another full-time veterinarian.
We're looking for kind, driven people to join our clinic. We're committed to hiring a diverse team that reflects the vibrant community we serve, and promoting equity and inclusion within our profession. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and identities.
We believe that we all do better, feel better, and lift each other up when we feel valued at work, so that is exactly our goal as an employer. Our philosophy in business is to educate clients and work alongside them to restore their pet's health, and that collaborative intention extends to our workforce as well. The strength of the community we create together can help us weather our profession's toughest elements.
Who You Are:
Our ideal team members are kind, compassionate, and curious. They're self-starters and multi-taskers; they like taking initiative and moving things along, and appreciate having their efforts recognized and rewarded. They're slow to stress and quick to ask for what they need. They have a natural attention to detail, look for solutions to problems, and enjoy making connections with people and their pets.
The Position:
We're seeking a full-time associate veterinarian to join our team. We are open to candidates interested in part-time work. The ideal candidate would have at least two years of experience in a fast-paced veterinary setting, with some emergency medicine or urgent care experience preferred. This is a full-time position (approximately 30-40 hours/week; three or four days per week) with shared weekend responsibility. Our clinic is open 6 days/week (we're closed on Wednesdays) from 9a to 9p, so we are looking for folks willing to share in later-evening coverage as well.
We provide access to a wide range of equipment, including in-house laboratory analyzers, ultrasound, and digital radiology. We have a dedicated surgery suite and isolation ward. We maintain good relationships with local specialty/emergency hospitals to facilitate referral of critical and complex cases. We utilize local mobile ultrasound services when appropriate.
Essential Duties:
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Demonstrate a versatile knowledge base to address a wide range of patient medical concerns and ability to perform minor surgical procedures, with additional surgical opportunities available for interested candidates
- Competently evaluate, diagnose, and stabilize critically ill patients
- Work independently but also enjoy a collaborative environment where case-based discussion is common
- Multitask and thrive in a fast paced environment - most patients are seen by appointment though we also readily accept walk-in cases
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to work closely with our staff and with the referral community
- Take ownership of cases and prioritize continuity of care
- Make accurate, timely and efficient medical record entries in the practice management software
- Communicate respectfully and compassionately with clients regarding their pet's health and financial aspects of care
- Commit to a client-centered practice where we work collaboratively with each family during their pet's visit
- Display flexibility and a positive attitude in working with the entire clinical team to achieve optimal workflow
- Full job description to be provided prior to interview
Qualifications:
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited university
- DEA license in good standing (or ability to obtain)
- Current Oregon veterinary license in good standing
- Two years of experience in emergency/urgent care or a fast-paced general practice setting preferred
Benefits:
