Spilt Milk is hiring a baker to add to our growing team We are a sister-owned bakery located in Oak Park. Our focus is on traditional American pies and pastries - baked from scratch daily with the best ingredients we can find

The ideal candidate will have 2 years professional kitchen experience and have an interest in baking and pastry. Applicants must have attention to detail, strong work ethic, focus, and a positive attitude. Interest in cooking / baking from scratch using local produce and ingredients. Must be a self starter, reliable, and be able to work independently.

Role and responsibilities include:

  • This is a full-time role, around 40 hours per week.
  • Early mornings starting at 5am, and weekends required.
  • Assist in morning "bake-off" of pies, breakfast pastries, and cookies
  • Pie dough production
  • Rolling pie dough, crimps
  • Assembling / baking fruit pies
  • Preparing doughs, batters, and various mixes
  • Topping pies, finishing pies and pastries

  • This is an hourly position, starting wage is $16.50/hour plus tips.
  • For employees with us 6 months or longer, we offer an annual bonus in December.
  • 2 weeks company paid paternity / maternity leave per pregnancy, plus short term disability coverage for all staff (can be used toward paid time off for mat leave)
  • Sick leave is accrued in accordance with the Cook County Earned Sick Leave Ordinance.
