Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a commercial real estate portfolio. This role partners closely with senior leadership and plays a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all daily accounting functions across multiple entities

Oversee timely and accurate month-end close, including all journal entries

Ensure cash transactions, transfers, and payments are properly recorded

Reconcile trial balance accounts; perform monthly cash reconciliations

Support the CFO with internal and external financial reporting

Coordinate year-end audits and assist with tax preparation

Ensure fees and revenue are recorded accurately and on time

Oversee investor distributions, including review, wiring, and posting

Maintain consistency and control of the general ledger across the portfolio

Participate in month-end financial review meetings with property managers

Reports to CFO & CEO

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE)

Strong Excel skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Comfortable working in a collaborative, small-team environment

Preferred Qualifications

CPA designation

Experience with Yardi software

Advanced Excel capabilities

This is a high-visibility role offering direct exposure to executive leadership and meaningful involvement in portfolio-level financial management.

An excellent compensation, bonus, and benefits package will be offered to the best-qualified candidate.

Salary target in the $160k range, depending upon experience.
