RADIATION THERAPIST Needed for a fulltime position at a hospital in Anderson, SC. Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • :Delivers an accurate planned course of radiotherapy while keeping accurate treatment records
  • .Provides patient care and exercises professional judgment in treatment delivery. Applies radiatio
  • nprotection principle known as ALARA. Participates in departmental QA program and patient follow -up

.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE

  • SDelivers planned course of radiotherapy accurately
  • .Applies principles of basic radiation physics, radiation interaction and radiation protection
  • .Verifies physician prescribed course of radiation therapy
  • .Immobilizes patients as indicated in the set-up notes
  • .Use of dynamic wedges and other beam modifying devices as applicable
  • .Operates therapeutic equipment and maintains patient records
  • .Practices aseptic techniques when necessary
  • .Assumes care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during treatment delivery
  • .Observes clinical progress of patients and reports any signs of complications to the radiatio
  • noncology nurse
  • .Assists oncologist as needed
  • .Detects and records any equipment malfunction in the malfunction logbook. Reports an
  • ymalfunction to the physicist or service engineer
  • .Assumes responsibility for assigned area
  • .Supervises students rotating through Radiation Oncology
  • .Assists in controlling inventory and purchasing of supplies for assigned area
  • .Keeps equipment and surrounding work area clean
  • .Performs morning check for treatment machines
  • .Documents quality assurance
  • .Enters the appropriate charges for services rendered for each patient on each date of service
  • .Currently certified by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association required. ARR
  • TRadiation Therapy Certification required
