Flex Medical Assistant

Overview:
The Flex Medical Assistant works as part of a collaborative team with an assigned provider and other members of the clinical team to manage the care of their assigned patient panel. This dynamic role provides comprehensive, compassionate care, both telephonic and in person.
This is an onsite position located at the AvitaCare Atlanta Clinic (2140 Peachtree Rd).
This role offers a consistent work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekends or holidays required
About the Role:
- Collaborate with the provider to care for the assigned patient panel
- Triage patient needs by administering diagnostic testing and measuring/recording vital signs
- Provides telephonic patient triage services
- Performs medication administration and reconciliation
- Administers injectable medications and vaccines
- Collects and labels laboratory samples
- Completes x-ray orders as requested by the provider
- Provides support to all clinical teams as directed by the Lead Medical Assistant
- Manages patient flow and coordination of care by updating patient medical records
- Communicate and facilitates preventive health care needs
- Facilitates patient engagement and outreach initiatives
- Maintains the readiness of examination and x-ray rooms by ensuring medications, supplies, and equipment are consistently restocked as needed
- Assist with answering incoming phone calls and scheduling appointments
- Embrace and perform in the spirit of the company's core values and goals
- Additional responsibilities assigned as needed
About You:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher preferred, especially in a related health field
- One or more years as a Medical Assistant or related experience
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Must have a current BLS Certification
- Skilled in Infectious Disease or HIV patient care
- Experienced in delivering patient care to individuals among the HIV/AIDS, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities preferred
- Strong background in radiology procedures, particularly the performance of routine X-rays, is preferred
- Proficient with EMR, eClinicalWorks preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to promote optimal patient care
- Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish is highly preferred
- Strong MS Office computer skills with the ability to type 30+ wpm
- Must have a positive attitude, be energetic and flexible, have excellent phone etiquette, and provide exceptional customer service
