Job Summary
The Surry Power Station Nuclear Engineering department is seeking an Associate Engineer to Staff level Engineer OR Engineering Technical Specialist I, II or III for a position in the Auxiliary Systems and Programs area.
There is one position which will be fi lled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Primary area of focus will be systems engineering in support of an operating nuclear power plant. Specific duties include monitoring and trending of system health, performing inspections of system components, generation of periodic reports and presentations to management team, and preparation of engineering technical evaluations, design changes, and calculations of mechanical systems. Develop maintenance plans and evaluate abnormal conditions for assigned systems. Provide engineering support of operational and maintenance activities during power operation and plant outages. Perform walkdowns, investigations, and develop corrective actions. Support Emergency Response Organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience that are required for entry into this job include the following:

Associate Engineer: 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience; Engineer: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience. Senior Engineer - 5+ years of relevant engineering experience; Staff Engineer: 8+ years of relevant engineering experience

Engineering Technical Specialist I: 0-2+ years of relevant engineering work experience plus degree or additional equivalent experience

Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant engineering work experience plus degree or additional equivalent experience

Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience plus degree or additional equivalent experience

Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals;

Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position;

Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;

Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;

Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);

Planning, organizational and project management skills;

Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills;

Effective decision making skills;

Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);

Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;

Equally effective working independently or in a team environment;

Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Required Engineering Criteria
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Other disciplines may be substituted for the Engineering Technical Specialist series listed above. If no degree, additional equivalent work experience can be applied.
