Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team. In this role, you'll use your personal experiences and knowledge to support individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges. Your lived experience will inspire hope, resilience, and recovery among the people you serve.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one peer support, using your lived experience to encourage and motivate clients in their recovery.
- Help clients develop personalized recovery plans that reflect their goals and strengths.
- Support clients in accessing community resources and navigating behavioral health systems.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and collaborate closely with clinicians and care coordinators.
- Document sessions and client progress accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Use motivational interviewing and other recovery-oriented techniques to empower positive change.
Qualifications
- New York State Certified Peer Specialist (or actively working toward certification).
- Personal experience with mental health, substance use, or recovery.
- Experience in behavioral health, social work, or crisis intervention preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) a plus.
- Must be compassionate, reliable, and professional.
