Essential job functions:

  • Perform general facility maintenance duties, including repairs to HVAC units, plumbing, electrical systems, and other hospital infrastructure.
  • Ensure that all systems are operational and comply with safety standards.
  • Oversee groundskeeping tasks such as lawn care, snow removal, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the hospital's exterior areas.
  • Complete light construction duties such as drywall installation, patching, painting, and minor carpentry to support facility upkeep and renovations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hospital equipment and facilities to identify potential issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to avoid costly repairs and minimize equipment downtime. Assist with the Environmental Services department as needed to support hospital cleanliness and infection control efforts.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment issues onsite, including medical equipment and general facility systems.
  • Assess whether repairs can be completed in-house or require external support.
  • Be available to respond to emergency maintenance issues, including after-hours calls for urgent repairs. Maintain tools, supplies, and materials required for maintenance work.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels and coordinate with Purchasing for the replenishment of maintenance supplies.
  • Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs for medical and facility equipment, including diagnostic tools, surgical instruments, and HVAC units.
  • Ensure that all equipment is operational and meets hospital care standards. Identify the need for equipment repairs, maintenance, or replacements, and submit purchase requests to the Facilities Manager.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of necessary parts and equipment.
  • Maintain current vendor information for equipment repairs by ensuring all relevant data is accurately recorded in the hospital's asset management software.
  • Manage an updated inventory of medical and facility equipment, accessories, and spare parts.
  • Track the lifecycle and status of critical equipment. Keep detailed records of all repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure information is accurately logged in the hospital's asset management system and generate reports to assist in managing equipment status and repair needs.
  • Assist with training of Team Members.
  • Perform additional related and unrelated duties as required. Must be able to work in a veterinary setting with exposure to animals and various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
  • Capability to perform tasks in various indoor and outdoor settings, including standing, walking, and bending.
  • Willingness to work with cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures based on maintenance and environmental service needs.
  • Requires adherence to hospital dress code, which includes wearing the designated uniform or PPE as needed.
  • Work closely with clinical staff, IT, and other departments to ensure the maintenance and repair needs align with hospital operations and standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends in facility maintenance and equipment repair and pursue relevant certifications and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Skills required above and beyond the job description for this role:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and collaborate with team members.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance and repair tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel between locations as required.

Education or equivalent experience required: 3-5 years in facility operations or equivalent experience, preferably in a healthcare or veterinary setting.

Knowledge of building systems and regulatory requirements, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

With some travel to our Akron location as needed.
