Position Overview

As a Boots Fountain Technician at Kristen Distributing Company, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of beverage dispensing equipment at customer accounts. Your role is essential in ensuring the equipment operates smoothly, consistently delivering high-quality beverages, and maintaining customer satisfaction. You will be the primary point of contact for technical support, troubleshooting equipment issues, and offering solutions to customers.

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Installation: Install beverage dispensing equipment at customer locations, ensuring proper setup and functionality.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform regular maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, sanitizing, and part replacements, to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues related to beverage dispensing systems, providing timely and accurate solutions.
  • On-Call Support: Play a key role in maintaining smooth operations by being available for occasional evening and weekend support. This schedule is part of a rotating system that will be discussed in detail during the interview, ensuring you are well-prepared to assist when needed.
  • Customer Training: Instruct customer personnel on the proper operation and care of equipment, ensuring efficient use.
  • Technical Support: Serve as the onsite contact for all technical issues, delivering professional and effective support for customers.
  • Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customer accounts to ensure satisfaction with service and product quality.
  • Product Delivery: Occasionally deliver products to customer locations, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Parts Management: Order necessary parts for repairs and maintenance, ensuring an adequate supply is maintained for timely service.
  • Inventory Control: Manage tools, spare parts, and supplies, ensuring they are well-organized and properly stocked.
  • Quality Control: Monitor equipment performance and ensure beverage quality meets company standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all installations, maintenance, and repairs, including parts used and services provided.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team and fellow technicians to coordinate service schedules and address customer needs.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols when working with electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant systems to ensure a safe work environment.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with soda fountain machines, refrigeration, or similar equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems as they relate to beverage equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer locations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Experience using hand and power tools, with knowledge of plumbing and water filtration systems.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) integration and calibration of beverage systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 50 lbs), bend, twist, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assignments within given instructions and parameters.
