Part-Time Teller

Reports to: Branch Manager

Job Summary: You will be a vital part of our financial institution, providing exceptional service and handling various banking transactions as our Front Line Units. With core skills in banking, basic math, and customer service, you will assist customers with their financial needs. Serves as a liaison between the member and the credit union. Performs a wide range of transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high accuracy and proficiency. Transact efficiently with member savings, checking, and loan accounts, as well as member services such as sales of cashier's checks. Ability to converse with members and make them aware of any current promotions or existing products or services for client-deepening opportunities, and open accounts as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner. Build relationships and report to enhance member experience.
• Provide comprehensive, accurate and efficient member transactions.
• Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, accurately enter deposits into computer records.
• Process withdrawals from accounts, cash checks, verify amounts, verify proper identification according to credit union policies and procedures.
• Process mail, email, or over the phone transactions, when applicable, while properly authenticating when needed.
• Redeem US Bonds, order/deposit Foreign Currency.
• Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
• Balance cash drawer at end of shift and compare totaled amount to computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to teller supervisor, as necessary.
• Open debit cards, and order checks for members. Set up on line banking
• Assist teller supervisor with vault balancing and end of day procedures.
• Promote, explain, and cross-sell credit union services and products.
• Be efficient in all teller reportable, branch compliance policies and procedures i.e., CTR and be able to recognize /report suspicious transactions
• Receive and process all loan, mortgage, consumer payments accurately and efficiently.
• Process deposits, may be asked to assist and fill the branch ATMs with cash, as needed.
• Proficiently use a cash recycler, refill and audit as needed.
• Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are overseen or prompted by tellers, all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.

Qualifications:

• Good time management and the ability to coordinate the daily tasks required of the position.
• Able to multitask between transactions
• The ability to resolve member issues while protecting the interests of both the member and the credit union.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to represent the credit union in a professional, friendly, business-like manner.
• Ability to collaborate well with peers and to assist in the training and motivation of new employees.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in interpreting policies and procedures, making exceptions as required with management approval.

Schedule:

• 20-25 hours per week, Mon-Sat (Subject to change)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Customer service and cash handling experience. Understanding debit and credit processing.

Work Location: In person.

Working conditions: All work is conducted in a climate-controlled office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.

Pay: $ $19.00 per hour
