Sr. Financial Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Senior Financial Analyst to join our growing non-profit team. This individual contributor role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of our financial operations. As we expand, flexibility and a hands-on approach are essential.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with leadership to uphold sound financial management, support strategic planning, and maintain strong internal controls that align with our mission and growth objectives. You will report directly to the CEO and have a dotted line relationship with our External Accounting Consultant.
Qualifications:
Minimum associate's degree or equivalent experience in accounting or finance and 2 years of professional experience. Additional certifications and Non-profit experience a plus. A combination of skill, experience and education will be considered for this position and salary.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, preferably within non-profit or similar sectors.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with financial software and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis (FPA):
- Manage day-to-day financial activities with precision and accountability.
- Ensure integrity and compliance across all financial processes.
- Support strategic financial planning and budgeting efforts.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights that drive organizational growth.
- Adapt to evolving organizational needs with a proactive, hands-on mindset.
- Support Paylocity relationship, understanding the allocation and increasing utilization of service.
- Utilize financial data in order to prepare accurate and timely reporting, supporting expense activity & behavior and forecasting against grants.
- Conduct thorough monthly reviews of expenditures and accounts, providing insights and recommendations to the CEO.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working with the CEO to develop and monitor organizational and programmatic budgets.
- Conduct ongoing financial analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting to provide recommendations for strategic decision-making.
- Prepare clear and concise financial reports and presentations for the CEO and Board of Directors.
Grant & Fund Accounting:
- Support the full compliance with grant conditions, donor restrictions, and legal aspects of fiscal management.
- Maintain organized financial documentation as required by funders, federal, state, and local laws.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Supports the assessment, development, implementation, and maintenance robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance where applicable.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial information, data, and records.
- Support the annual audit process by coordinating and providing necessary information and documentation to external auditors, contributing to its timely completion
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel, and experience with non-profit accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)."
- A foundational understanding of non-profit accounting principles, with a strong commitment to developing expertise in policies and funder requirements.
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing funder requirements and organizational needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a small team and with diverse populations.
Other Requirements:
Ability to communicate with administrative staff, funders and auditors. Able to read and write in standard English, organization skills and ability to complete timely and accurate reporting and documentation as required. Ability to work with ethnically and culturally diverse populations
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to mentally and physically meet the demands/conditions of the position. Must provide proof of these abilities if/when required by agency for position. May require proof of TB test, or immunization or other documentation that may be required by the local-state or federal health departments or funders.
