Job Overview

Join our vibrant team at Color Me Mine as an Art Studio Associate We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who combines customer service flair with technical ceramics experience. In this role, you will help customers bring their visions to life while managing the technical side of the studio. Compensation Breakdown

  • Base Wage: $18.50 per hour
  • Average Tips: $3.00 - $10.00 per hour (higher end of range on weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Customer Experience: Greet visitors warmly, explain the painting process, and provide tips/techniques to enhance their experience.
  • Kiln & Glazing Management: Perform clear glazing (dipping/brushing) with precision and safely load/unload electric kilns to ensure high-quality finished pieces.
  • Studio Operations: Manage the flow of the studio, maintain a clean environment, and organize inventory/stock.
  • Sales: Support sales efforts by explaining pricing, promoting upcoming workshops, and handling POS transactions accurately.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished pottery for defects before packing orders for customer pickup.

Requirements

  • Ceramics Experience Required: Must have prior experience with glazing and kiln firing (previous studio work, art school, or hobbyist experience is acceptable).
  • Communication: Strong ability to explain products and techniques clearly and confidently to both adults and children.
  • Operational Skills: Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and basic retail math.
  • Attitude: Passion for art and creativity with a friendly attitude that fosters a welcoming atmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

  • Education: Currently enrolled in an Art/Ceramics program or holds a Fine Arts degree.
  • Instruction: Previous experience teaching art classes or leading creative workshops.
