We are seeking a full-time
Food Safety & QA Manager
at our
North Bergen, NJ
facility. This is a chance to lead and take full ownership of our food safety & quality program to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and achieve GFSI certification.
The ideal candidate should have an educational background in food science, microbiology, or a related field, AND/OR 2 or more years of experience related to implementing and administering food safety / quality assurance programs in a food manufacturing environment. Candidate should have the drive and passion to spearhead new initiatives.
Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Establish a strong food safety culture at the company
- Assess gaps in food safety programs and then develop and implement policies, procedures, and tools to effectively improve food safety and quality throughout the company
- Liaise between and collaborate with production, warehouse, and leadership teams
- Monitor production and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices on the production floor and in the warehouse
- Develop and oversee implementation of new sanitation program
- Design, develop, and deliver food safety & quality training; maintain training records
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement
- Oversee HACCP documentation, updates, and execution
- Review and update product labels to meet FDA requirements
- Monitor supplier performance and verify COAs
- Conduct testing in-house and through third party testing laboratories to verify product conformance; interpret results and analyze data
- Submit documentation for and maintain recordkeeping of relevant registrations, certifications, etc.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree related to Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or a related field, OR a combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this job
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills in working with cross functional teams
- Must be drive and take ownership of new initiatives
- Excellent written and oral communication skills—bilingual in either Spanish/English or Chinese/English is preferred
- Current certification in HACCP, PCQI, etc. is a plus. Certification and training can also be provided for candidates who are newer to food safety
Physical demands:
- Employee can expect to spend up to ~60-70% of their time in a factory & warehouse environment and the remaining time in an office environment. Employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hand and arms to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and/or climb stairs or ladders. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50lbs may be expected.

Hours
- 40 hrs / week
- Weekend hours may be required on occasion, in which case weekday hours will be adjusted (e.g., overseeing weekend cleaning and sanitation)
