RHA is recruiting for a Residential Treatment Specialist (RTS) for the Mary Benson House. Mary Benson House is a home-like setting that provides 24-hour housing and substance use disorder treatment for adult pregnant and/or parenting women and their children from birth to five years old. Our goal is to ensure that healthy babies are born while helping mothers move toward recovery and maintain a stable, sober, independent life with their children.To support the goals of the mothers, the RTS provides direct care to individuals with substance use disorders in a residential setting, ensuring the safety and well-being of each resident. Our ideal RTS is caring, patient, and fair while supporting the therapeutic environment, providing individual and group support as appropriate. Duties include but are not limited to: transportation, documentation, childcare, light cleaning, urine sample collection for drug screens, and participation in weekly staff meeting.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing direct care to residents as delegated by the house manager, program director, or supervisor.
2. Performing/assisting residents with activities of daily living consistently and according to policy and standards
3. Monitoring the self-administration of medication for residents.
4. Assisting residents and children with nutritional needs
5. Observing residents and effectively communicating significant changes or reactions to care to treatment team.
6. Consistently anticipating and meeting residents' needs.
7. Consistently following the plan of care designed to meet the emotional needs of the residents, including safety level checks as appropriate.
8. Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, with residents, family, and co-workers.
9. Consistently demonstrating positive consumer relation behaviors and attitudes.
10. Assisting other staff members as the need arises.
Our ideal Residential Treatment Specialist has positive motivational coaching and training skills, patient listening and communication skills and excels at what they do because they truly care about the people they serve.
Additional requirements for the Residential Treatment Specialist include:
• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in health care work at the level of health care assistant or an associate of arts in mental health; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience must be in the field of substance abuse and/or mental health.
• Certification in CPR and first aid (obtained upon hire through RHA)
• Valid NC driver's license.
• Excellent driving record.

- Complete criminal background
- Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
- Drug testing
- Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
- Proof of employment history or references (if required)
- Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
