Job Summary:

The Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day security operations across Bristol Health. Reporting to the Security Manager, this role ensures the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and property by supervising security personnel, enforcing policies, and responding to incidents. The Security Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for a multi-campus health system.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct security personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective performance.
  • The role may necessitate covering shifts, as well as working during night and weekend hours, as required.
  • Oversee daily security operations, including access control, patrols, and alarm monitoring.
  • Respond to and manage security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards, following established protocols.
  • Enforce security policies and procedures, addressing violations and escalating issues as needed.
  • Conduct regular security rounds to identify and address potential risks or hazards.
  • Monitor and maintain security equipment, including access control systems, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of security training programs for staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, and investigations.
  • Collaborate with the Security Manager to develop and implement security plans and strategies.
  • Serve as a point of contact for security-related inquiries and concerns from staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Assist local law enforcement agencies as needed.

Educational / Minimum Requirements:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field required, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role preferred.

State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:

CT Security Officer License

Valid Driver's License

Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:

  • General orientation at the time of hire; annual Fire/Safety/Infection Control training; other programs as mandated by the Hospital.
