Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team
JOB SUMMARY:
Physical Therapist Assistants help patients, including accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as low-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, and cerebral palsy, by providing services that restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities under the direction of a physical therapist. They help restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health. Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure patient care and supports the Mountain View Hospital vision and mission statement of safety, compassion, presentation and efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administers physical therapy treatments to patients under the direction of and as an assistant to the physical therapist.
2. Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
3. Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain using intermittent and static traction equipment.
4. Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as pre-ambulation, transfer training, ambulation, and daily-living activities.
5. Observes patients during treatments and compiles and assesses data on patients' responses to treatments and progress. Reports in writing or verbally to the supervising physical therapist.
6. Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
7. Confers with members of the physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
8. May measure patient's range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist the physical therapist to compile data for patient evaluations.
9. Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation/Certification: Minimum of an Associates Degree from an accredited PTA program; valid state license; must pass national licensure exam. Required to maintain an Idaho license each year. Also maintains a current CPR/BLS certification.
Experience: Ability to perform physical therapy assistance as defined by the following: Through the use of the physical therapy process, the incumbent is responsible for providing up-to- date, timely and comprehensive physical therapy. Failure could have adverse consequences on the continuity of care and patient outcome.
Equipment/Technology: May include, but not limited to, CPMs, SCDs Ultrasound, electrical stimulation equipment, therapeutic pool lifts, Hoyer lift, O2 units, pumps, heat and cold pack units, traction machines, paraffin baths, TENS unit, crutches, walkers, canes, exercise equipment, wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, general office equipment's, safety equipment (safety belt, grab bars), and protective equipment (gloves, masks, gowns, goggles).
Language/Communication: Must be able to communicate clear and effectively with various types of patients from all age groups and with varied backgrounds and physical abilities.
