Deacon Construction is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on a variety of commercial projects, ranging from tilt‑up warehouses and tenant improvements to ground‑up, healthcare, and industrial builds. Whether you've run $5 million interiors or $50 million campuses, if you can coordinate subs, hold the schedule, and keep everyone safe, we want to talk.
Why Join Deacon Construction?
At Deacon, we're more than builders—we're collaborators and problem‑solvers. Our core values—Integrity, Teamwork, Commitment to Excellence—guide every decision. When you join our Boise team, you'll find:
- People‑first leadership: mentorship, training, and clear paths from Assistant Super to General Superintendent.
- Meaningful work: projects that shape Idaho communities—schools, clinics, distribution centers, and more.
- Stability & growth: privately held, financially strong, and expanding across the Mountain West.
- Community & culture: volunteer days, jobsite BBQs, and a safety culture that puts people first.
About the Role
As Superintendent, you'll run the jobsite from first shovel to final punch. You'll own the master schedule (MS Project), coordinate subcontractors, manage site logistics, and deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining Deacon's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the overall project schedule, updating look‑ahead and recovery plans.
- Direct day‑to‑day field activities: manpower, equipment, deliveries, and site logistics.
- Monitor subcontractor progress, verify compliance with drawings and specifications, and drive quality control.
- Lead daily safety huddles, enforce company and OSHA requirements, and conduct site inspections.
- Manage field documentation (RFIs, daily logs, photos) using Microsoft Office and Procore/PlanGrid.
- Coordinate with agencies and inspectors for testing and special inspections.
- Mentor project engineers, foremen, and assistant superintendents; foster a collaborative, high‑performance team.
- Track quantities, productivity, and cost codes; forecast labor and equipment needs.
- Resolve site challenges promptly, such as weather conditions, unforeseen circumstances, or emergencies, to maintain schedule integrity.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of field experience, including at least one full cycle as lead Superintendent (ground‑up or major renovation).
- History of successfully managing projects of varying size—from small TI to $50 M ground‑up.
- Able to read plans/specs, understand means & methods, and sequence work efficiently.
- Solid scheduling skills—comfortable building and updating schedules.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore, PlanGrid, or similar field tools.
- Basic understanding of cost control, quantity tracking, and construction accounting.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; able to motivate diverse trade teams.
- OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
What We Offer
- Competitive salary + project bonus program.
- Medical, dental, vision, and wellness benefits.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Vehicle allowance or company truck, fuel card, and phone/laptop.
- Paid time off, holidays, and continuous safety & leadership training.
