Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States Goodmanson Construction Full time

At Goodmanson Construction, we're proud to be a Minnesota-based construction company that specializes in concrete, asphalt, and excavation work for residential, commercial, industrial, and public projects. We work hard, take care of our people, and value honesty, teamwork, and a job done right.

We're looking for someone who loves both numbers and people — a detail-oriented Payroll & HR Specialist who can keep payroll running smoothly and also help us bring great new team members on board.

Benefits Include

  • Schedule: Full-time, in-office schedule with the opportunity for a flexible, hybrid schedule available after completion of training and demonstrated reliability.
  • Compensation: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision, SIMPLE IRA with company match, paid time off, and paid holidays.
  • Growth: We value training and development — you'll have opportunities to grow your skills and career here.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you'll split your time between payroll and HR tasks. On any given day, you might:

Handle Payroll:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for our crews and office team.
  • Double-check timecards, job codes, and pay rates to make sure everyone gets paid correctly and on time.
  • Work on certified payroll reports for public or government-funded projects (prevailing wage experience is a big plus, but we're happy to train the right person).
  • Keep payroll records organized and handle deductions, benefits, and garnishments.

Support HR:

  • Write and post job ads that reflect our company culture and values.
  • Screen applicants, coordinate interviews, and help managers with hiring decisions.
  • Guide new hires through onboarding, making sure they have everything they need to get started.
  • Help with background checks, paperwork, benefits enrollment, and keeping employee files up to date.
  • Be a go-to resource for employees — someone who can answer questions and point them in the right direction.

Who You Are

  • You've got 2+ years of experience in payroll and/or HR.
  • You're comfortable with numbers, organized to the core, and love checking things off a list.
  • You understand (or are eager to learn) the ins and outs of prevailing wage requirements and processing certified payroll.
  • You're friendly, approachable, and able to juggle details without losing sight of the big picture.
  • You can keep sensitive information private and handle tough conversations with professionalism.

Why You'll Love It Here

You'll join a tight-knit, down-to-earth team that values hard work and a good sense of humor. You'll have a real impact — not just behind the scenes, but as someone who helps us grow our team and take care of the people who make this company great.
