A role on our Finance and Accounting team involves helping UNFI maintain and grow its financial health as we continue to transform and scale. We need to ensure that our financial analysis and statements revolve around constant communication with our partners within the organization as well as outside to provide the most current statistics for our business health. By being attentive to details, trends, and inefficiencies, and communicating with our teams, you'll be key to our success and continued growth as North America's premier grocery wholesaler.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Analyze variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Track, analyze, and forecast DC level profitability.
  • Understand and communicate financial trends and provide actional insights to drive improvement.

Operational Support:

  • Partner with DC finance controllers to understand labor, throughput, inventory, shrink, and logistics costs.
  • Partner with Commercial Finance team to understand Sales, customer mix, channel mix, product margin, customer margin, supplier margin.
  • Monitor KPIs such as profitability per case, labor efficiency, inventory accuracy, variable and fixed EBITDA margin.

Cost Management:

  • Track and analyze fixed and variable costs across the P&L, identifying opportunities for savings.
  • Support initiatives to optimize Sales mix, warehouse operations, inventory levels.

Reporting & Dashboards:

  • Develop and maintain financial and operational dashboards
  • Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports with commentary and recommendations.

Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve financial processes and data accuracy.
  • Support automation and digitalization of reporting tools and workflows.

Compliance & Controls:

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in supply chain or distribution.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and labor management tools.
  • Knowledge of logistics, transportation, and inventory costing.
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

  • This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
