The Galley Attendant's primary responsibility is to provide efficient cleaning and sanitation of assigned areas according to Public Health regulations. This position involves washing dishes and cookware, cleaning tables and floors of assigned working area and emptying trash. The Galley Attendant maintains a clean working environment of all Galley and Restaurant washing areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Galley Operations

  • Follow cleaning schedules in assigned area.

  • Handle, separate and dispose of garbage properly.
  • Rotate between different areas; pot wash, glass wash, dish wash, garbage room.
  • Assist in achieving the budgets by minimizing waste and breakage and maintaining proper handling procedures.

General

  • Exceed Resident and Guest expectations in every aspect of personalized service in accordance with Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards.
  • Actively support the goals and objectives for the department and adhere to all new policies and company initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate Time & Attendance Records for each time period worked.
  • Ensure all areas are maintained in accordance with Public Health (HACCP), Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety & Environmental regulations; adhering to Company Policies and procedures as appropriate to the position.
  • Participate in the buddy program.
  • Actively participate in Company trainings as required.
  • Execute safety duties as per the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.
  • Assist with Ship tours, Zodiac landings, Marina days, Expeditions, and other activities when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to read, write and speak fluent in English.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Certification in Sanitation and Public Health preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years' relevant experience on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort.
  • Good computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work seven (7) days a week for an extended period, including day or night, weekends and holidays.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all Crew are required to stand, walk long distances on the Ship and may include the repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down the stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
  • All Team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Work within different temperature changes – indoors to outdoors.
  • Ability to pass STCW safety course.
  • Able to live harmoniously in close quarters.
