Consider joining Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia (BGCCG) as a Part-Time Dance Instructor. We seek an innovative and collaborative instructor who has passion and experience in more than one genre of dance, including but not limited to modern, jazz, and hip hop. When you join, you will have the opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower youth learners to succeed. This position will also allow you the opportunity to share content knowledge with an eager group of students committed to learning and enjoying multiple forms of dance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 


  1. Explains and demonstrates proper dance techniques, as well as modifications for different level participants.
  2. Prepares appropriate warm-up, stretching, and cool down techniques.
  3. Implements, choreography and teaching dance routines.
  4. Prepare students to present video dance routines at Boys & Girls Clubs regional and/or national conferences.
  5. Communicate with students in regard to practice schedule, progress and performance.
  6. Prepares a fun and organized environment for student learning.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Valid CPR card preferred.
  • One-year teaching and/or training experience in appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background and fingerprint screening.
  • Ability to travel between Club locations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience as a modern and jazz choreographer working with students at the middle and high school level upholding professional standards in concert dance.
  • Experience working as a collaborative team member with administrators and staff related to costume, and technical design.
  • Experience with student outreach and recruitment.
  • Ability to develop dance routines that stress innovation and improve student equity.
  • Enthusiasm for the learning process.
  • Commitment to supportive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an environment of change and ambiguity.
  • Vision and energy to plan and organize programs to enhance student success.
  • Willingness to participate effectively in shared governance and to work collaboratively.
  • Personal qualifications such as effective interpersonal communication skills, participation in community affairs, ability to conduct effective public presentations.
