Detroit, Michigan, United States Silver Home Care Full time $25,000 - $50,000 per year

About the Role

As an Intake Specialist, you will serve as the vital first point of contact for individuals and families seeking support through the Michigan Home Help Program. Your role ensures that clients feel welcomed, guided, and supported as they navigate eligibility for essential in-home care services funded through MDHHS (Michigan Department of Health & Human Services).

This position is ideal for someone who has worked at MDHHS, within a local DHHS office, or has experience assisting clients with Medicaid waiver programs, CHAMPS enrollment, or Home Help service applications. Your understanding of Michigan's public assistance systems and strong organizational skills will make you a cornerstone of our intake and enrollment process.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients interested in the Michigan Home Help Program and other state-funded services.
  • Conduct detailed intake interviews to determine eligibility, including verifying Medicaid status and gathering demographic and medical information.
  • Guide clients through the completion of Adult Services Applications, CHAMPS Enrollment Forms, and Home Help Service Agreements.
  • Communicate directly with MDHHS caseworkers, nurses, and local field offices to ensure proper documentation and timely submission.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records in compliance with HIPAA and state confidentiality guidelines.
  • Track all incoming referrals, applications, and follow-ups to ensure a seamless client onboarding experience.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to support clients in matching with caregivers and completing required medical documentation.
  • Respond to client questions regarding Home Help eligibility, Medicaid coverage, and provider enrollment with professionalism and clarity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working at MDHHS, in a county DHHS office, or for a Medicaid Home Help provider.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Medicaid programs, CHAMPS portal, Adult Services Division, and Home Help policy guidelines.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills with the ability to explain program requirements clearly to clients.
  • Experience processing applications, verifying eligibility, or managing client documentation in a state-regulated program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning new systems (e.g., CHAMPS, MI Bridges, or case management software).

Basic Qualifications

  • Excellent phone etiquette and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of data.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Previous intake, case management, or clerical experience in a social services or healthcare setting preferred.
