General Services Facilities Specialist
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible and accountable for providing light building, grounds, and plumbing maintenance, completing monthly preventive maintenance (PM's), mail services, freight delivery/receipt, meeting space arrangements, and reporting/ensuring the MPC Workforce Development Center is maintained to first class standards. This includes duties such as, but not limited to:
- Coordinate with meeting organizers to ensure space setups for meetings and provide AV assistance. Assist with corporate events, as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous building maintenance which could include but is not limited to climbing / balancing on ladders feet to replace light bulbs, ballasts, ceiling tiles, and hang pictures. Includes light janitorial and building maintenance, light ground maintenance and the ability to report escalated issues into the Archibus system.
- Routinely required to lift, move and set up heavy objects without assistance.
- A preemployment physical will be required for this position.
- Efficient handling of all mail services, freight receipt/delivery responsibilities for employees located at this location.
- This position will be responsible for serving as a back-up for the on-site Facility Response Coordinator working in coordination with Environmental Affairs for the MPC Operations Center. This position would need to ensure monthly and annual SPCC documentation for SPCC (Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures) reporting is completed and maintained for all spills for the Operations Center. Must be able to produce paperwork for Audit purposes. Respond to and report any spill accordingly.
- Gain working knowledge/understanding of Audio-Visual equipment in Assembly Rooms A & B and conference rooms. Provide general AV assistance to meeting organizers and be able to trouble shoot for AV issues. Escalate major issues to IT to ensure meeting success. Monitoring, reporting issues and purchasing supplies as needed.
- This position is considered critical during storm events. This position is required to make storm-ready the Workforce Development Center (sandbagging, securing loose items, etc.) and then report to the MPC Storm Center, support the EOC Coordinator before, during and post storm event and shelter in place during the event.
- This position will support General Services in other MPC locations, as needed.
- Serve as back-up for the GS Facilities Specialists at the Covey Center, Corporate Headquarters, MPC Operations Center, Mail Services (Corporate Headquarters) and perform other duties as assigned. The initial work location could be reassigned to another corporate location, as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience & Education
- High School Diploma
- Conference/meeting services desired.
- Light building/plumbing/grounds maintenance experience desired
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of employees, management, and widely varied external publics.
- Must possess strong, proven customer service skills.
- Strong personal computer and audio-visual equipment skills ( Outlook , Excel, & Word)
- Ability to provide and manage basic building, plumbing, and ground maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of the USPS and commercial courier regulations
- Sorts and delivers outgoing and incoming mail for operations center and serves as back-up for Mail Services
- Federal Express and United Parcel Services, keep track of all incoming and outgoing packages and schedule pick-up and delivery.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Must be able to adapt quickly to change.
- Self-motivated and able to work with little to no daily direction.
- Able to multi-task various job assignments
- Must be available for weekend and evening work.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for meeting space arrangement of tables and chairs for each meeting. Includes contacting meeting organizer to determine needs, make recommendations, ensure meeting success and safety standards are followed.
- Responsible for ensuring all incoming and outgoing mail is delivered to departments.
- Ensure that all federal guidelines are followed when handling mail.
- Ensure beverages, ice, AV, etc. are provided for the duration of all meetings.
- Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting audio visual equipment in corporate conference rooms are always operational for corporate meeting room(s). Escalate to appropriate business units.
- Responsible for and help ensure the general maintenance of building, grounds, and plumbing to ensure first class facilities are maintained.
- Provide back-up support for the Building Services Supervisor which includes scheduling, ordering supplies, and assisting Building Services Technicians, and contractors, as needed.
- Responsible for backing up the Mail Courier position (all MPC mail routes), and General Facilities Specialists for the Covey Center, Corporate Headquarters, and Operations Center. Must learn each facilities' positions responsibilities and be able to perform all duties at each location.
- Responsible for aiding guests, caterers, and others based on meeting needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
