Position Summary

The Senior Director of Operations & Club Experience is a key executive leader responsible for ensuring operational excellence, high-quality youth development experiences, and strong organizational performance across all Club sites. This role oversees daily Club operations, drives program quality and safety standards, supports Club directors and staff, and ensures that every young person served receives a world-class Boys & Girls Club experience.

This leader partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer and senior leadership team to align operational strategies with long-term organizational goals, funding commitments, and community needs.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategic Management

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight into all Club site operations, ensuring consistent and high-quality stakeholder experiences.
  • Lead, develop, and evaluate Unit Directors and key operational staff across multiple locations.
  • Monitor and analyze data across attendance, outcomes, staffing, and resource allocation to drive organizational decision-making.
  • Oversee facility operations, and maintain direct communication with Unit Directors, Director of facilities, COO and CAO for maintenance scheduling and project progression.
  • Develop and implement operational best practices, policies and procedures to improve efficiency and safety relative to transportation logistics, facilities, and equipment.

Club Experience & Program Quality

  • Uphold and elevate the Boys & Girls Clubs youth development model, ensuring integration of high-impact programs that support academic success, healthy lifestyles, leadership, and overall well-being.
  • Contribute to the implementation of continuous quality improvement processes, including site observations, staff coaching, and Club safety audits.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure all curriculum, activities, and events align with organizational standards and community needs.
  • Ensure that Clubs deliver inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive experiences for all youth.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Serve as a champion for youth protection and organizational safety standards.
  • Ensure Clubs meet or exceed all Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) requirements, as well as local and state licensing standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead incident response oversight, staff training, and proactive risk mitigation strategies, in tandem with the Sr. Director of Safety, Compliance and Prevention.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Safety Compliance and Prevention to provide oversight of the organization's safety committee.

Staff Leadership & Professional Development

  • Develop an organization-wide staffing model to ensure adequate supervision across all sites, and uphold our commitment to the highest safety standards
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, growth, and youth-centered service.
  • Seek, develop and deliver professional development training to enhance staff skills in youth development, operations, safety, and leadership.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with schools, community organizations, funders, and partners that support Club operations and growth.
  • Support resource development and grant implementation with accurate data collection, site reporting, and program execution alignment.
  • Represent the organization as a senior leader at community events, board meetings, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in nonprofit management, education, public administration, or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience within youth development, education, community organizations, or multi-site operations.
  • Proven track record of leading teams, improving organizational systems, and managing complex operational environments.
  • Budget oversight
  • Salesforce experience is highly preferred.

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities; skilled at inspiring teams and developing staff.
  • Deep understanding of youth development principles and Boys & Girls Clubs mission.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites, competing priorities, and time-sensitive issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, senior-level position with regular travel between Club sites.
  • Occasional regional and national travel required.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs.
