The Southern Oregon Education Service District is seeking a highly professional and experienced occupational therapist to deliver school-based services to students in districts in Klamath Falls.  The therapist will provide consultation and training to school staff, evaluation of student eligibility, progress, and needs, recommendation and adjustment of equipment, input toward IEP development, and occupational therapy treatments typically provided to students with motor impairments. 

The occupational therapist will become part of the SOESD's OI (Orthopedic Impairment) team – a team of OTs and PTs that serve schools and students across Southern Oregon. The team works collaboratively to develop curriculum and programs that enhance the learning experience and opportunities of students who experience disabilities. Often, a PT and OT will partner to provide comprehensive orthopedic services to individuals or groups of students.  Members of the SOESD OI team are provided regular training and support, which results in knowledgeable, competent therapists who are valued and appreciated by school staff, parents, and the community.

Occupational Therapist

POSITION GOAL:  Plan, implement, and monitor therapy services for appropriately identified students.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assess and diagnose students' educationally related therapy needs.
Instruct/demonstrate therapy/treatment programs to individual students and/or educational staff.
Write, alter, review, update, and pre- and post-test treatment/instructional therapy programs.
Coordinate therapy services for students with resource people, agencies, and/or others.
Coordinate and/or provide direct parent training.
Develop a schedule of services for students and disseminate.
Train school personnel to implement therapy programs.
Plan and present in-service to school personnel and parents, and be a resource for information.
Select and complete growth objectives.
Assist in parent education in providing knowledge of unique educational needs.
Participate in assigned staff school meetings and in-services.
Establish and maintain positive, flexible, and cooperative relationships with ESD and local district staff.
Represent the program/ESD with colleagues and the community.
Interact and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
Schedule and conduct needed student staffing.
Implement and maintain student records and forms.
Prepare and maintain materials and equipment.
Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation. 
Perform job-related tasks as designated by the supervisor/coordinator.
 
MINIMUM PREREQUISITES   
License to practice therapy in the State of Oregon.
Experience working with developmentally delayed children.
School-based service preferred.
 
LOCATION: In person, at assigned school(s) in Klamath Falls.
LENGTH OF POSITION: FTE / 190 days (academic year)
SALARY:  Per licensed collective bargaining agreement for school year: $56,964 to $98, rate will increase based on outcome of bargaining.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Department Administrator
