We are looking for a proactive and hardworking Junior Building Engineer to support day-to-day operations, maintenance, building security, and general upkeep of the property. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in building engineering while learning from senior staff. The Junior Building Engineer will assist with various facility systems and help ensure the property remains clean, functional, and safe for all occupants and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Change light bulbs and fixtures in common areas and assist with basic electrical maintenance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving plumbing issues, including minor repairs and coordination with vendors.
  • Support HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, under supervision of senior staff or contractors.
  • Assist with minor electrical issues and routine inspections.
  • Blow out parking garages on a regular schedule to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform minor pressure cleaning tasks as needed (e.g., garage floors, patios, walkways).
  • Assist with general property care, including picking up trash, cleaning smudges off walls, and wiping cobwebs
  • Conduct regular window cleaning of building exteriors and accessible interior areas.
  • Mow and maintain small grassy areas or landscaping strips as needed.
  • Provide access to vendors and contractors, and ensure they are properly signed in and supervised as needed.
  • Monitor building security by checking access points, assisting with access control, and reporting or addressing any suspicious activity.
  • Support special projects led by senior staff or management, including renovations, seasonal prep, and preventive maintenance.
  • Split on-call duty with other team members to cover after-hours maintenance issues (schedule to be determined – possibly every other week or month).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or trades.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate basic power tools and cleaning equipment (e.g., pressure washers, blowers).
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and willing to learn on the job.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and professional demeanor when interacting with vendors and tenants.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.

Job Type: Full-time
