QA Lab Assistant/QA Specialist

This full-time position is critical to ensuring finished product and WIP quality. The individual(s) in this role work(s) closely with R&D and production to ensure that product meets specification. This is a support role that works directly with the QA Specialist in releasing product.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Prepare production samples for QA testing following preparation instructions.

Clear production samples based on the quality evaluation, and record the results for each batch.

Report non-conformities, inconsistencies, and variations in product tested.

Prepare, organize and store the finished product retain and control samples.

Collect samples from production for microbiological, shelf-life, and allergen testing.

  • Submit samples to external labs for testing, document and record data in the database.
  • Interpret the results to determine compliance with specifications, and send email notification on the lab results.

Conduct organoleptic testing for ingredients and finished product shelf-life extensions requests, send

Extension letters and record the information in the database.

Assist with customer complaints investigation process (retain retrieving and evaluation).

Conduct quarterly shelf-life studies.

Cross staff support as general lab assistant, not limited to QA tasks, for cleaning, pouch samples, and maintain general lab organization.

Completes projects assigned by Director of FS&Q, Samples Coordinator, and Owner.

Ensure that testing supplies and equipment are available, and maintained at an adequate level.

Follow applicable work instructions, SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A minimum High School Diploma required

1-3 years of experience in a lab setting.

Ability to taste a variety of products (all allergens, meats, spices).

Good math skills, critical thinking, and ability to weigh and measure.

Well organized and neat individual.

Ability to follow instructions, and pay attention to details and timelines.

Excellent time management skills.

Data entry and record keeping experience.

Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization (production floor to management).

Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Willingness to learn and assist in all areas.

Physically ability to sit or stand for long periods of time daily in the lab.

Physical ability lift lab mixing bowl, and up to 50 lb. ingredient bags in the warehouse.

Ability to pass National Background Check and Drug Screening.
