BUILDING MAINTENANCE APPRENTICE at Destination Geneva National

Are you a student interested in carpentry, painting, HVAC, and electrical trades? Join our team at Destination Geneva National as a Building Maintenance Apprentice and acquire hands-on experience across various maintenance disciplines while working at our premier Lake Geneva hospitality and golf destination.

As an apprentice, you will assist our skilled Maintenance team with daily tasks and projects, providing you with exposure to foundational principles that can jump-start your career in the building trades. This role is ideal for students seeking a dynamic and supportive environment to explore which specialty field best fits their interests and aspirations.

  • Assist with Routine Maintenance: Work with the team on tasks such as repairing walls, painting, basic carpentry, and replacing fixtures.
  • HVAC Basics: Learn the fundamentals of HVAC systems, including basic troubleshooting, filter replacement, and maintenance schedules.
  • Electrical Exposure: Observe and assist with simple electrical tasks, such as changing light bulbs, testing outlets, and troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Carpentry Projects: Support carpentry tasks, including small repairs, installations, and construction projects.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Help with inspections, upkeep, and documenting maintenance work to ensure the resort operates at its best.
  • Learn Safety Protocols: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring a secure work environment for guests and staff.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Shadow experienced maintenance technicians to gain a deeper understanding of each specialty area.

Qualifications

  • Current high school, trade school, or college student with an interest in building maintenance, carpentry, painting, HVAC, or electrical work.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus but not required.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, depending on business needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying environments, including outdoor and indoor settings, in all weather conditions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Use of hands and arms to handle, install, position, and move materials or equipment.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces or at heights when necessary.
  • Visual acuity to inspect detailed work and perform safety checks.
