Production Manager

Summary: The Production manager provides leadership to operations on all shifts, develops and manages production processes to ensure a safe work environment, meeting quality, cost, and on-time delivery. This role creates a culture of continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and associate experiences. This role interfaces with a cross-functional group of associates. Provides input and participates in business development, goals, rocks, and related metrics aligned with Company vision and initiatives. This position requires taking a leadership role in understanding and implementation of Lean improvements and ISO13485 quality requirements to ensure sustained behavior on the production floor. Responsible for escalating potential continuation engineering needs across the three-shift tier meeting structure to the Continuation Engineering Manager for prioritization.
Areas of focus:
Associate's Development (20%)
Advises, assists, and supports Shift Advisors.
- Identifies and has in place development plans for direct reports in alignment with company growth objectives.
- Assist in coaching and developing Operators and Leads. Creating a talent pipeline and improving associate experiences.
Coordination of Manufacturing Operation (50%)
Support production during daily activities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost supporting exceptional customer experiences.
- Efficiently solves scheduling changes to satisfy customer needs.
- Continuously observes operations and schedules to prevent performance loss.
- Provides leadership and monitors production using run boards (electronic and manual) plus visual standards on the floor and uses this data to improve availability of resources.
Continues Improvement (20%)
Create a culture to continuously improve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.
- Focal point using LEAN/Six Sigma to improve quality and actual to standard time.
Business Process (10%)
Participating in business process improvements related to manufacturing.
- Supports the manufacturing transfer of new projects into manufacturing.
- Helps to resolve issues with Accounting and Quality teams.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creates a culture where associates are excited and motivated to continuously improve production processes, delight our customers and accomplish both individual and team goals and objectives.
- Improve associate experiences through quarterly scorecard review and annual PDM's; 100% of associate have a development plan.
- Responsible for the hiring and on boarding of Ideal Team Players.
- Live the Innovize Purpose of Creating and Culture and Products that Improve People's Lives.
- Manage operational activities improving: safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Identify factors which may limit ability to follow work instructions, to meet quality requirements or to meet the quoted estimate for material and labor, and make appropriate adjustments.
- Drive the overall cleanliness and orderliness of work areas consistent with Lean Six Sigma concepts like 5S, Visual Factory, and Kaizen, and compliant with ISO13485 standards.
- Establish Lean Manufacturing behavior that focuses on eliminating non-value-added activity such as wasted human talent, defects, inventory, overproduction, waiting time, motion, transportation time, and processing waste.
- Provides input on the business development and technical strategies, goals, objectives, and related metrics to ensure alignment with Company vision.
- Collaborate with other Teams through coaching, training, mentoring, participating in troubleshooting challenges across the company.

Training/Education/Experience:
- Engineering degree preferred.
- 5 years of leadership experience.
- 10 years manufacturing experience, at least 2 years medical manufacturing preferred.
- Certifications in Lean and or Six Sigma preferred.
Competencies/Talents/Personal Attributes:
- Excellent coaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to recommend and submit production procedure changes for review and approval in accordance with the Company documentation change control requirements.
- Ability to read blueprints, understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances, and identify non-conformances or borderline quality conditions that require corrective action.
- Ability to work effectively on computers and easily navigate multiple systems and file locations.
- Exceptional organization skills, self-directed, and results driven.
- Ability to process conflicting information, search for facts, problem solve, and make responsible decisions while under pressure.
- Complete understanding of Epicor production tools and able to use them to make good production decisions.
- Able to adjust job schedule, resources, and personnel to react to disruptions to supply chain, associate availability constraints, expedited jobs, and projects.
- Financial acumen to be able to understand job costing, labor vs materials, indirect labor, financial impact of high inventory, budgets and identify potential cost saving opportunities by reviewing completed projects.
- A complete understanding of our production equipment, processes, and capabilities. Must be able to interact with and explain how the equipment operates and its abilities, able to present capabilities and operation to new associates and customers.
- Must have complete understanding of the safety requirements of equipment and be able to identify and communicate safety issues. Must also be able to explain the safety requirements of the production equipment.
- Can speak, understand, and write English.
