What You'll Do
As a Financial Analyst V on the Capital Strategy & Markets team within Treasury, you'll provide leadership and technical expertise on complex capital management and market-facing initiatives that shape Principal's balance sheet strategy, support sound capital deployment decisions, and strengthen the company's overall financial position.
- Lead and execute analytical and project work in support of the enterprise capital framework, including capital targets, leverage strategy, and deployment mix across dividends, share repurchases, and reinvestment.
- Build and refine valuation and financial models to assess capital deployment alternatives, transaction economics, and value creation.
- Drive transaction-related analysis to optimize the balance sheet — evaluating reinsurance, contingent capital, hybrid, and other capital structure alternatives to enhance flexibility and efficiency.
- Support debt issuance and capital market activities, including structuring, documentation, and execution of senior, hybrid, and medium-term note offerings in coordination with investment banks and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and develop relationships with internal and external partners — including Finance, Risk, and business leaders, as well as investment banks and debt investors — representing Principal's perspective and capital philosophy.
- Strengthen governance processes to ensure disciplined oversight of enterprise capital decisions, documentation, and reporting.
- Collaborate across Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Business Units to align capital strategy with enterprise financial goals and support the execution of complex strategic initiatives.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
