Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced
Senior Cloud & AI Architect
to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and responsible AI-driven solutions for state and public sector agencies. This role blends advanced AI/ML expertise with enterprise architecture leadership to modernize government operations, enhance citizen engagement, and drive data-informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with
cloud architecture (AWS preferred)
, enterprise application modernization, and deployment of
ethical AI/ML platforms
, including Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, advise leadership stakeholders, and support the development of next-generation cloud and AI capabilities across State Agencies.

Core Qualifications

  • 10+ years
    of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years
    of enterprise, full lifecycle architecture experience in IT/Software Development.
  • 5–8 years
    of technical application architecture experience, including modernization initiatives.
  • Extensive experience architecting, designing, and developing applications in
    AWS
    environments.
  • Expertise evaluating cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, hybrid) and solutions architecture alternatives.
  • Proven ability to design secure, scalable, compliant
    AI/ML solutions
    for cloud/hybrid environments.
  • Strong knowledge of
    ML, Deep Learning, NLP
    , and modern AI frameworks.
  • Experience with AI platforms such as
    AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Google Vertex AI, PyTorch
    , etc.
  • Ability to design AI systems aligned with
    responsible AI
    , bias mitigation, and ethical standards.

Agency-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science
    , or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum
    5 years
    of progressive experience in application design, solution architecture, AWS/Public Cloud, and AI/ML technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    (Highly preferred — please upload certification).
  • Experience with
    state or local government
    programs.
  • Enterprise-wide cloud & AI integration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with
    chatbots, Generative AI (GenAI), and LLM deployments
    for public-sector use cases.
  • Understanding of federal and state compliance standards:
    FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST AI RMF, NIST 800-53
    .
  • Experience implementing
    AI ethics, risk management, bias mitigation
    frameworks.
  • Prior involvement in digital transformation initiatives across federal, state, or municipal agencies.
  • Additional certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) in cloud or AI specialties.

  • Evaluate and recommend AI tools, platforms, and frameworks.
  • Mentor technical teams and guide multi-project architecture strategies.
  • Ensure solutions comply with government security, transparency, and risk management standards.
