Job Overview

We are a legal recruiting firm seeking detail-oriented and motivated Family Law Paralegals to join several respected family law firms across North Jersey, including Livingston, East Brunswick, Hoboken, and West Orange. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in family law and demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills. This role involves supporting attorneys in various aspects of family law cases, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and deadlines are met. The Family Law Paralegal will play a crucial role in assisting clients through complex legal processes while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Duties

  • Assist attorneys with the preparation of legal documents, including petitions, motions, and discovery requests related to family law cases.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies.
  • Manage case files, ensuring all documents are properly organized and maintained within document management systems.
  • Perform document review and assist with drafting correspondence to clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Interview clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress.
  • Coordinate schedules for court appearances, depositions, and meetings with clients or witnesses.
  • Maintain accurate records of case activities and deadlines using legal case management software.
  • Provide executive administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars and filing documents with the court.

Experience

  • A minimum of two years of paralegal experience is preferred, particularly in family law or related fields.
  • Familiarity with project management principles to effectively manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with attention to detail in proofreading.
  • Experience in litigation support including transcription of legal proceedings and data entry for case management systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
