deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Staff Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

Position Description:

deciBel Research seeks Systems Engineers with five to 12+ years' experience to support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) product team on the Ground Based Mid-course Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program. In this role the candidate will perform Systems and Hardware Engineering functions such as requirements decomposition, hardware fault analysis, and hardware to software interface definition as part of the IDT product team.

Additional work the role may perform includes:

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

Education Requirements:

BS Degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 5+ years of experience; 3 years of experience with Master's degree, or 1 year experience with a PhD.

Experience Requirements:

  • General understanding of the Systems Engineering 'V'
  • Capable of performing engineering analysis, requirements allocation, and requirements decomposition
  • Background in hardware to include experience with hardware to software interfaces, as well as experience diagnosing hardware faults (fault detection and fault isolation)

Special Skills Desired:

  • Prior experience working on Missile Defense programs
  • Prior experience working using DOORS
  • Prior experience using Atlassian Tools
  • Familiar with Agile terminology and best practices
  • Prior experience as a Product Owner
  • Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo
  • Familiar with automated software requirements testing and analysis
  • Familiar with Software Containerization and Orchestration
  • Familiar with DevSecOps
