The Director of Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance will lead the strategic design and execution of enterprise-wide data management and governance capabilities that embed data governance into business operations and enable high-value use cases across both regulatory and commercial domains. This role will drive the transformation of the Enterprise Data Office into an efficient hub-and-spoke operating model with centralized capabilities and standard enforcement paired with efficient execution by business units in a federated domain model.

The Director understands and assesses business strategy in connection with the value of data at scale by translating the mission and vision of the Enterprise Data Office into actionable OKRs across 'defense' and 'offense' data postures. Designs and applies a comprehensive collection of methods, practices, policies, tools and processes to govern and control the lifecycle of all data assets, that ensures their protection, governance and trusted consumption. Leads the development and continuous refinement of the enterprise data capabilities across; 1. Strategy, Planning, Governance & Policy, 2. Regulatory Reporting & Insights, 3. Data Management Tooling & Operations Enablement, 4. Data Commercialization & AI Enablement. Acts as integration point for triaging business requests and managing demand for data support as part of a multi-year roadmap.

  • Works with stakeholders to understand key business opportunities and translate those into a clear, actionable data strategy .
  • Articulates business cases to prove the business value of information and data strategy initiatives, prioritizes identified use cases and shapes an actionable execution plan .
  • Identifies and recommends solutions to resolve issues in data policies, data usage, data quality, and metrics.
  • Evaluates and recommends data governance supporting technologies .
  • Works with across-functional teams e.g. business, technologists, data scientists to synthesize ideas, prioritize efforts, and identify intelligent solutions for business leaders .
  • Identifies and introduces new data sources that range from standard market data to unstructured and alternative data .
  • Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.
  • Ensures alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion.
  • Regularly connects work to BMO's purpose, sets inspirational goals, defines clear expected outcomes, and ensures clear accountability for follow through.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
