Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Store Clerk to join our Municipal Liquor Store team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing sales transactions, and maintaining the store's appearance. This role is vital in creating a positive shopping experience for customers and ensuring smooth daily operations within a grocery or retail environment. Bilingual skills are a plus to assist a diverse customer base, and previous experience with POS systems and merchandising is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Operate POS systems efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges
  • Assist customers with product inquiries, product demos, and upselling opportunities
  • Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure proper merchandising standards
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and perform cashiering duties with integrity
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store to promote a welcoming environment
  • Manage inventory levels through stocking and inventory checks
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions and resolving issues promptly
  • Support supervising staff during busy periods or when needed
  • Demonstrate effective phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors

Requirements

  • Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or grocery store environments preferred
  • Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or other languages) is a plus
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and retail math calculations
  • Knowledge of POS systems and upselling techniques
  • Ability to perform merchandising tasks and stock management efficiently
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Supervising experience is desirable but not mandatory
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
