Location: Library Services Center - Collection Management Services Area
Hours: Full-time 
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am - 5pm

Starting Salary Rate: $42,568
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

With limited direction, the Assistant, Shared System manages student library card data in Polaris. The Assistant works closely with Manager, Shared System to create reports requested by schools. The Assistant assists the Shared System Manager in leading, training and coaching members of the Shared System on procedures, data entry and record keeping as assigned by the Manager.

A successful candidate will… 

  • One to three years of relevant work experience with school libraries or public libraries preferred.
  • Experience with Polaris, good communications skills
  • Valid Driver's License

What does the job look like? 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate school staff.
  • Develop, implement and oversee a schedule for maintaining student library card records.
  • Review and maintain the integrity and accuracy of patron and item information in Polaris LEAP.
  • Oversee distribution of new library cards.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports; compile statistical data as requested.
  • Train and provide technical assistance to members of the Shared System in their use of Polaris LEAP (Integrated Library System).
  • Work with Collection Management staff and Shared System members to develop efficiencies in processing Shared System materials.
  • Assist Shared System Manager in documenting, maintaining procedures and team communication.
  • Ability to work on site at Shared System locations for training and assisting with materials management (inventory, picklist, weeding, etc.)
  • Able to work at the normally scheduled work time for this position.
  • Able to cope with daily job-related stress.
