Position Summary
KBR is currently recruiting for a Security Assistant to join our team. This is a Full-time position, supporting the Division Security Representative of the Naval Research Laboratory facility at 1005 Balch Boulevard, Stennis Space Center, MS Also, assists Division Security Representative (DSR), for the NRL Acoustics and Ocean Sciences Division and responsible to the Division Superintendent (Code 1251) and to the Head of NRL Information Security and Special Programs Branch (Code 1230), as directed, to support physical, informational, industrial, Cyber, COMSEC, and personnel security related tasks.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Ensuring that threats to security, possible compromises, and other security violations or infractions are reported, documented and when necessary investigated.
• Reporting security violations from breakdowns in procedures and safeguards that have an impact on security. Investigates and documents security related violations.
• Take corrective actions, as appropriate, to monitor implementation of customer's official decisions regarding corrective actions.
• Support accounting and control requirements for classified material to include receipt, distribution, inventory, destruction, reproduction, and disposition.
• Investigate incidents of lost or compromised classified material, when directed.
• Perform duties, when authorized, as a Classified Material Courier.
• File and retrieve material in the established filing system.
• Access the Defense Information Security System (DISS), as directed, to submit and manage visit requests at the SECRET and TOP SECRET level.
• File and update databases and check the status of Personnel Security and investigative actions.
• Coordinate with contractor Facility Security Officers (FSO) and Information System Security Managers (ISSM) as necessary.
• Process security background investigation submissions. Collect fingerprints as required for individual clearance processing.
• Support personnel security tasks such as pre-screening nomination packages.
• Create designation letters.
• When directed, verify and process all Contractor Common Access Card (CAC) requests.
• Processes all Security Access Requests (SAR) and Security Access Authorization Requests-Navy (SAAR-N) for unclassified and classified IT access.
• Conduct indoctrination briefings and debriefings for applicants who have been approved for access to classified information.
• Ensure that requests, required training, and notifications of Foreign Travel are completed according to local requirements.
• Coordinate with the local servicing SSO, when directed, to indoctrinate personnel and maintain SCI billets for the relevant NRL division.
• Administer annual NCIS counter-intelligence briefings as directed.
• Assist the implementation of Information Security (INFOSEC) policies and procedures pertaining to the safeguarding of telecommunications equipment and the information processed or stored in classified and unclassified computer systems
• When directed, coordinate with the NRL Information Security Section to ensure compliance with requirements for security of classified information processing systems and processes.
• Insure that all IT systems are properly labeled and users follow Navy and DoD classification marking procedures.
• Assist with maintaining and administering required EKMS.
• Support the accreditation, management and maintenance of Secure Terminal Rooms.

Basic Qualifications

• Clearance - No government security clearance required to start; however, the candidate must have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
• High School diploma and 7-10 years of experience in physical security and information systems security procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree desired.
• Formal security related training such as Physical Security for Classified Programs, COMSEC Custodian, Facility Security Officer, Cybersecurity or other relevant security related fields.
