Hiring Immediately: Sidewalk Snow & Ice Crew - On-Call 24/7

Great Lakes Landscaping, a 30-year leader in commercial winter maintenance in Macomb and Oakland Counties, is urgently hiring dedicated Sidewalk Crew Members and Sidewalk Leaders for the upcoming snow and ice season.

This is an essential, high-demand, on-call position requiring immediate availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the weather.

Available Positions

1. Sidewalk Crew Leaders (Supervisory)

Leaders are responsible for the successful and timely execution of assigned routes.

  • Duties: Lead a small crew of 2-4 laborers, manage the on-site execution of snow clearing and de-icing, ensure all contract specifications are met, manage the accurate application of materials, and report job status/completion to dispatch.
  • Requirements: Proven leadership experience, ability to manage teams and routes efficiently, reliable transportation, and excellent communication skills.

2. Sidewalk Crew Laborers

Laborers are responsible for the manual work that ensures safety on all walkways.

  • Duties: Manually shovel snow from sidewalks, entryways, and emergency exits; operate snow blowers; and apply de-icing materials (salt, calcium, etc.) to all hard surfaces.
  • Requirements: Ability to perform heavy and sustained physical labor in extreme cold, wind, and snowy conditions for extended shifts. No prior experience is necessary—we will train reliable candidates

General Requirements (Applies to All Sidewalk Personnel)

  • Reliability is Non-Negotiable: Must be able to respond immediately to weather call-ins 24/7. Your shift starts when the storm begins.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work long hours outdoors in harsh winter weather.
  • Safety Focus: Commitment to safe work practices, especially regarding operating equipment and handling de-icing chemicals.
  • Service Area: Must be able to reliably commute throughout Macomb and Oakland Counties.

Compensation & Application Details

  • Competitive Hourly Pay: Highly competitive wages reflecting the demanding nature of this essential, on-call work.
  • Pay Disclaimer: The compensation listed on the job board may not be the final rate. Pay is based on the position (Leader vs. Laborer) and the candidate's experience level, and will be further discussed and negotiated prior to hiring.
  • Overtime: Significant overtime is expected during major winter events.
