Summary:
Sterilization Technicians focus on ensuring that dental tools and equipment are sterile before use. Your duties as a dental sterilization technician include setting up and cleaning the exam or surgery area, ensuring sanitary conditions, and sterilizing surfaces and instruments. Some employers call this position a sterile processing technician. Your responsibilities include using medical disinfecting procedures to sterilize all the necessary equipment. Your employer typically expects you to document the cleaning process. You use equipment like an autoclave during the sterilization process. Sterilization technicians also work directly with patients as dental assistants.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setting up and cleaning the exam or surgery area.
- Ensuring sanitary conditions
- Sterilizing surface and instruments.
- Sterilization technicians also work directly with patients and dental assistants.
- Taking inventory/ordering
- Keep a log of equipment example: broken/repair.
Other duties as assigned.
Working at a fast pace while maintaining safe working conditions.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Bending and stretching.
- Following proper safety procedures at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
