Remote, Oregon, United States Hull Renew, LLC Full time

Indeed Job Posting: Advisory Board Member (Psychiatrist) - Stealth Mental Health AI Startup (Paid)

Job Title: Advisory Board Member (Senior Psychiatrist) - Stealth Mental Health AI Startup (Paid)

Job Type: Contract, Part-time (Advisory)

Hours: Minimal, a few hours per quarter

Compensation: Paid (per-meeting stipend and/or hourly advisory rate, based on experience)

Location: Remote (U.S. preferred)

About Us (Stealth Startup)

We are a stealth-stage startup building an AI-powered mental health support app designed to help people in between care moments with clinically responsible guidance, tools, and support. Our goal is to create something safe, trusted, and widely adopted, with a high bar for clinical rigor, ethical design, and user protection.

We are forming a small advisory board of senior clinicians to help shape what we believe will become a household-name mental wellness app. Due to stealth mode, additional details (team, roadmap, and product direction) will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.

The Role

As an Advisory Board Member, you will provide strategic psychiatric oversight and clinical guidance across product direction, safety standards, escalation protocols, and how our platform responsibly supports users. This is not a day-to-day role. It is intentionally lightweight, but high impact.

What You'll Do

  • Advise on psychiatric safety standards, risk identification, and escalation pathways
  • Provide guidance on responsible boundaries between AI support and clinical care
  • Review product concepts through the lens of medication safety, contraindications, and scope-of-practice considerations
  • Help shape clinically appropriate triage logic, crisis response philosophy, and "do no harm" guardrails
  • Offer feedback on clinical language, tone, and user experience from a psychiatric perspective
  • Participate in occasional advisory calls and async reviews (as needed)

Who You Are

We are only considering mid- to late-career psychiatrists with outstanding credentials and a track record of leadership. This role is designed for a senior doctor. Ideally, you are:

  • Board-certified and deeply experienced (significant post-residency clinical years)
  • A recognized leader in your environment (department leadership, medical director, chief, program lead, academic appointment, etc.)
  • Comfortable offering direct, high-level input that shapes standards and product direction
  • Interested in responsible innovation at the intersection of psychiatry and technology
  • Not early-career. Highly qualified senior physicians only.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
  • Active (or recently active) medical license in at least one U.S. state
  • 10+ years of psychiatric experience strongly preferred (post-residency)
  • Strong clinical judgment and deep familiarity with patient safety and ethical practice
  • Ability to advise on risk, contraindications, crisis response, and scope boundaries
  • Excellent communication and comfort collaborating with a product/tech team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification in Psychiatry (required) and subspecialty training (optional)
  • Prior leadership: Medical Director, Chief of Psychiatry, Department Chair/Vice Chair, Program Director, or similar
  • Academic involvement, research, publications, conference speaking, guideline development
  • Experience with digital health, telepsychiatry, behavioral health startups, or clinical informatics
  • Expertise in areas such as mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, addiction, adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, or serious mental illness

Time Commitment

  • Minimal: approximately a few hours per quarter
  • Optional extra touchpoints around key releases or safety reviews

Compensation

This is a paid advisory role, with compensation aligned to seniority and involvement (per-meeting stipend and/or hourly advisory rate).

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $ $500.00 per hour

Application Question(s):

  • Are you a board-certified psychiatrist (MD/DO)?
  • How many years have you practiced post-residency in psychiatry? (0-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20+)
  • Do you currently hold an active U.S. medical license?
  • In which state(s) are you licensed?
  • Have you held a senior leadership role? (Medical Director, Chief, Chair/Vice Chair, Program Director, Service Line Lead, etc.) (Yes/No - if yes, describe)
  • Have you worked with digital health / telepsychiatry / clinical innovation? (Yes/No - if yes, briefly explain)
  • Are you comfortable advising a product team on safety, risk, escalation, and clinical boundaries (non-clinical, advisory only)? (Yes/No)

Education:

  • Doctorate (Required)

Work Location: Remote
