Patient Account Representative

Requirements:
- High school graduate/GED required. College degree in finance preferred.
- Certified Patient Account Specialist Certification and/or Certified Healthcare Collector Certification preferred
- A minimum of 2 years' business office experience.
- Previous experience in a business office within a hospital environment preferred or transferable skills from other fields
- Previous experience in a business office within a substance abuse and/or psychiatric hospital preferred.
- Must have an acceptable background check and credit report
- A minimum of 2 years' experience with 3rd party billing and collection experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dually diagnosed population
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Completes insurance verification for patients accurately and within 20 minutes of notification
- Accurately posts payments to patient accounts daily.
- Completes adjustments accurately based on payments and information received
- Processes all mail and related correspondence within 72 hours of receipt.
- Maintains collection notes for assigned accounts in a clear and concise manner.
- Performs timely follow up with insurance company and/or responsible party and continuing until account is resolved to a zero balance while properly documenting account.
- Keeps Business Office Director informed of any problem areas i.e. trends in payment practices of insurance companies and private accounts.
- All other duties as assigned
