Job Description

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Instructional Designer with experience in the oil and gas industry to design, develop, and deliver high-impact learning solutions. This role requires a strong background in instructional design methodologies, technical training, and learning technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with subject matter experts to identify learning needs, apply instructional design theories and methods, design and develop creative and effective interactive learning materials, e-learning modules (Storyline360), storyboarding, e-learning guides, jobs aids, infographics, basic graphic design informational videos (Vyond/Camtasia), basic video editing, AI audio, and various assessments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in translating complex business processes, identifying knowledge gaps, skill deficits, performance needs specific to the oil and gas industry. Design learning objectives for WBTs, ILTs, hybrid training programs, acknowledgement and compliance-based training.
  • Excellent organizational, relationship and project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines, manage workloads and prioritize tasks. Must successfully manage end-to-end multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and focus.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, Camtasia, Audiate. Creative portfolio required. Adobe software suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus.
  • Working experience with LMS preferred Cornerstone or WorkDay (a plus). Tasks include curriculum/certification design, course and class creation, uploading rosters, updating SCORM files, knowledge management, and deploying/implementing training according to company standards and regulations.
  • Strong capacity for conceptualizing, creating, and shaping visual concepts to communicate ideas, solve learning needs, and create compelling learning experiences. Experience in scenario-based learning is a plus.
  • Excellent design, creative direction, communication and writing skills to facilitate learning announcements and email campaigns is required.
  • Assist with creating a safe work environment by utilizing risk analysis, job hazard analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to assist, implement, and facilitate compliance training and procedures (SOPs, OQ, OE etc).
  • Schedule, execute, and close-out training events and rosters.
  • Responsible for daily opening and closing of the facility.
  • Schedule / perform minor maintenance activities and inspections.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in instructional/learning design and technical training in the oil and gas industry for adult learning (ADDIE), instructional design/technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in Learning Design/Instructional Design are preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PPT). Must have experience in generating reports in Excel pivot tables, Power BI (plus).
  • Provide exemplary technical support by interfacing with end-users to troubleshoot course bugs and close out ServiceNow tickets.
  • Independently drive projects forward, demonstrating ownership and accountability for progress and issue mitigation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in working with learners, SMEs, management, vendors and senior management.
  • Ability to interface effectively and influence decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking for large and small groups.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage many different training topics.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, self-accountable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to maintain strong and positive relationships with 3rd party vendors and internal SMEs.
  • Must work well within a team and be able to take direction and constructive feedback well.
  • Additional responsibilities required to support ongoing needs of the organization.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Travel as needed – up to 25%.
  • Occasional visits to process plants, compressor stations, and pipeline settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, which require appropriate personal protective equipment.
