Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Instructor to join our evening CNA program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong nursing background, proven teaching capabilities, and hands-on experience working with chronically ill or elderly patients. This role is responsible for delivering the CDPH-approved curriculum, supervising clinical rotations, and ensuring that students are well-prepared for successful careers in nursing.
You will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing meaningful instruction, mentorship, and guidance throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
Develop and deliver engaging lectures aligned with CDPH and industry standards
Teach CNA theory using the CDPH-approved Nurse Assistant Training Program curriculum
Conduct hands-on skills lab sessions
Integrate effective teaching methodologies and learning technologies (e.g., Canvas)
Clinical Supervision
Supervise students during clinical rotations in various healthcare settings
Ensure safety, compliance, and professionalism at all times
Provide real-time coaching and feedback to support student learning
Student Support
Evaluate student performance and competency through assessments and documentation
Offer mentorship, academic support, and constructive feedback
Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records
Uphold all policies related to CDPH, Title 22, and Healthcare Science Academy
Attend departmental meetings and contribute to program development

Minimum Requirements (Must Meet All CDPH Qualifications)
Licensure & Certifications
Active California RN or LVN license (in good standing)
DSD (Director of Staff Development) Certification
Current CPR/BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Experience Requirements – Per CDPH Form 279
Two (2) years of nursing experience as an RN or LVN
One (1) of the two years must be providing direct patient care to chronically ill or elderly patients in one of the following:
Acute care hospital
Skilled nursing facility
Intermediate care facility
Home care
Hospice
Other long-term care setting
Educational/Training Background (Must meet one):
- One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing
OR
Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing
Must be completed within 6 months of employment
Must be approved by BRN or an accredited educational institution

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in higher education or vocational programs
Familiarity with care plans, medical terminology, and patient care across specialties (acute care, critical care, pediatrics, geriatrics, etc.)
Experience supervising students in educational or clinical settings
Knowledge of adult learning principles and curriculum development
Clinical background in critical care or hospital-based settings is a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $ $40.00 per hour
