Summary:

Macdonald & Company is exclusively retained to appoint a Senior Accountant, on behalf of a market-leading property management firm, based in Steamboat Springs, CO. This role is based full time in Steamboat Springs, CO.

About:

We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and take a lead role in supporting our HOA and property management portfolio. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to make a direct impact on both clients and internal teams.

What you'll do:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of associations.
  • Review and approve financials, budgets, invoices, and reconciliations.
  • Train and guide accounting staff and association managers.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end reporting, including audits, cash flow, and variance analyses.
  • Act as the finance point of contact at HOA board meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Support tax filings, owner statements, and special projects.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of hands-on accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and accounting software (QuickBooks, VMS, etc.).
  • Excellent communicator with a knack for problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Leadership qualities - able to mentor teammates and step up when needed.
